The Mamou Lady Demons softball team looks to continue their winning ways as they move toward district. They recently destroyed Class 3A Iowa 11-0 to open up the regular season. The win came on the road against the Lady Yellow Jackets. The win helps Mamou get back on the winning track as they march toward district. They open up District 6-2A competition against Oakdale this week.

The Lady Demons picked up three runs in the top of the third inning, two runs in the top of the fourth inning and two runs in the top of the fifth. However, it was a four-run top of the sixth inning that allowed the Lady Demons to put the game out of reach.

In the circle, Amber Manuel grabbed the win for MHS. The sophomore hurled all six inning collecting 12 strikeouts and giving up just one hit. She allowed just one walk in the 20 batters she faced.

Mamou’s offense was led by Alanah Komorowski. The junior slugger was 3-4 on the day. She scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Senior Cheyenne Smith also had a big day. She went 3-4 as well. She scored one run herself and drove in a run. Shawna Fontenot, another senior, had a pair of singles in the game and brought home a run. She also scored as well.

Mamou has a rigorous schedule ahead of them. They will also be competing in tough tournaments like the Lafayette and Sulphur Tournament.
